Baystate Cafe | Our Story
How BayState came to be Worcester's Middle Eastern home
BayState Cafe & Market is a restaurant, bakery, and specialty market all on Water Street — built around one obsession: Middle Eastern food done right.
A daily mission to get it right
Fresh ingredients, no shortcuts — every falafel, shawarma, and kabab is made from scratch before the first order is called.
Three concepts, one address
Sit down for tender grape leaves and chargrilled kababs, then browse the market on your way out for tahini, za'atar, and the spices that make it taste right. The bakery turns out fresh manakeesh and traditional pies all day.
The food speaks for itself
From kibbi and mujadara to crispy falafel, shawarma wraps, and full entrée platters — the menu is wide and generous. Save room for the Chocolate Dubai crêpe: pistachio knafeh cream, dark and white chocolate, crushed pistachios.
A gathering place on Water Street
BayState is where Worcester comes together — quick lunches, long family dinners, late-night crêpes after midnight. New ownership has sharpened the kitchen's focus, and the doors stay open until 3 AM on weekends.
From our kitchen to yours
The same care behind every plate travels with the catering team — shawarma buffets, live BBQ setups, and party-size manakeesh trays. The market shelves are always stocked for when you want to cook it at home.
